"I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." - Groucho Marx

Who am I?

Now that's a question and a half! We could have long philosophical discussion about it, but that would just be boring. I am also not going to do a rousing rendition of "I Am What I Am" (which was originally from the Broadway Musical "La Cage aux Folles" don't you know!) as my singing voice tends to make my dogs howl!

So you have learnt two things about me already - I am a fountain of useless information (and pretty good with Google) and I wouldn't get very far auditioning for X-Factor (for which I am eternally grateful)!

Want to know more?

Go on, I know you're a glutton for punishment!

Well in short, (I'm actually quite tall at 6ft exactly) I have a background in writing for the web having previously been British History Editor for About.com and Software Reviewer for the Good Software Guide. I have also spent some time as a freelance web designer, which I still do in my spare time when interesting projects come up. I earn my bread and butter these days though as a web site content editor, but that doesn't best take advantage of my full range of skills.

Hobbies and Interests

The best and worst thing about being a web geek is that I am nearly always on the web working on web sites, learning more about web standards, new design ideas or new technologies. I even thought it would be fun to do a Masters degree in Web Applications Development - I must be mad! If I'm not doing that I'm probably browsing for news or trolling ebay or Amazon for my next gadget. Although perhaps ironically I can't stand social networking sites! Although as all my friends and family are now "facebooking" I may have to relent and join if I want to stay in touch with any of them! But this site will always be my e-spritual home!

I also love video games; they keep me in touch with my inner child! Everyone needs a little frivolity right? I am an avid console gamer and love my Xbox 360! If anyone wants to challenge me to a game of Pro Evolution Soccer on Xbox Live drop me a line!

Away from computers - I do drag myself away occasionally, I like to read. I am a huge fan of Jack Higgins, Tom Clancy and Bernard Cornwell books.

I'm not into energetic pursuits, but do enjoy swimming, the odd game of golf (my handicap is more like a cricket score) and walking my dogs.

I currently have three Japanese Akitas, they have had a bad press at times but they really are lovely dogs; just like giant fluffy teddy bears! They're not much good for playing ‘fetch’ with though - they tend to think it's beneath them!

That's probably a lot more than you ever needed or even wanted to know about me! But if you're desperate for more you can always check out my blog (coming soon).
